There is a heaviness in my heart

There is a heaviness in my heart, or is it my chest?

Is this is what it is like when a loved one is lost?

Is this what it is like when something of immense personal value is lost?

Does it feel as if the heart misses a beat?

Does it feel as if the heart or chest is about to explode?

Are there hot sweats?

Is there a lack of sleep?

I have been waiting for an answer, some communication from someone, but it never seems to come. Oh yes, when I contact them, it is all a “bed of roses“, but nothing is resolved.

Some of our personal goods has been shipped from the UK to here in Malaysia, but instead of our container arriving in the port of Penang, another person’s container arrived with a car inside which was bound for Nairobi, and our container is where the car should be, in Nairobi.

Can I get is sorted out? No. There seems to be no resolve.

It seems to being swept the under the carpet by the shippers, Crown Relocations, who must have labeled the containers incorrectly in the UK.

I have many prized books in that shipment, rare signed books, which could never be replaced. Are they now sitting on someones bookshelf in Kenya?

I am aching. My back, neck, legs. Here in Malaysia, or where the house is, I have no incentive to go for a long walk for exercise. It is too hot and humid, there are no shops to visit, no park land. The mattress of the bed is too hard for me, so I tend to ache when I wake up.

But are these aches lack of exercise, the mattress, or the return of angina, the problems with my heart? Missing heart beats, night seats, chest pains, my feet swelling up like elephant legs.

Perhaps they are symptoms due to stress, the high temperature and humidity, the food?

I had eaten too many nuts, and on the flight out with Singapore Airlines (Singapore Airlines A380) meals containing beef were served, both food stuffs seem to give me pains in the chest.

Some of the food I had eaten since being in Malaysia have had excessive fat on the meat, even if I tried not to eat it. Excessive fat content seems to give me pain.

Or is my state due to the drugs I am taking?

The Atenolol 50mg, certainly have been wrong for me (see blog Missing days).causing loss of short term memory, making me feel unwell, slowing me down too much.

That should be resolved with the reduction in strength of the Atenolol, and the introduction of a new drug called Isosorbide Mononitrate. But this drug is making my head swim, my brain seems to pulsate, throb, I feel light headed, weak, and I am falling asleep early in the evening, which means I wake-up early.

But am I waking-up early because there is a mosque somewhere near, and the early morning prayers (5:30 am) are pumped out through speakers which the group Led Zeppelin would use on stage, and the prayers go on and on and on.

Am I waking-up due to the thunder storm and the tropical rain?

Oh well, better get on with life.

Oh yes, please contact me with the answer, I am waiting. You can click on the lick on the left or below.

Christmas Decorations

Prior to leaving the UK for Malaysia, I had many meetings to attend, one especially with the Buzan Training organisation to confirm and discuss my status as a BLI (Buzan Licensed Instructor).

Whilst at this meeting Tony Buzan joined the discussions, the inventor of MindMaps, organizer of the World Memory Championships, writer, speaker and presenter.

Tony Buzan

It was after our meeting that Tony asked me to go with him to his home, a wonderful located home over-looking the River Thames.

It was here that Tony gave me a Christmas Wreath.

Christmas Wreath

A Christmas Wreath is traditionally hung on the entrance door of a home. But where did the tradition come from, and what was the meaning of such a thing?

As with many beliefs, traditions, ceremonies, even religions, they can be traced back way before they were supposed to have started, being taken from other beliefs and adapted into a new structure, and so it seems it is with the Christmas Wreath, or as it is sometimes called the Advant Wreath.

It is thought that the Christmas Wreath along with the Yule Log and the use of mistletoe and holly come from pre-christian times, from pagan rites.

The holly leaves were used by pagans as an offering in winter to the fairies, the Romans offered branches of holly as a symbol of friendship, and they often used the leaves as decorations durring the Christmas season. Being an evergreen plant, the leaves would remain green for longer periods.

Wreaths can be traced back to other religions, and to the ancient Persian Empire times, possibly originaly used as a headband or diadem, and later used by the Greeks when they awarded the victors of the Olympic Games a crown of laurel leaves. Possibly the victors hung the crown on their walls to show their endeavours, thus passing into what we know today.

It is thought that pre-Christian Germanic people used wreathes with lit candles during the cold and dark December days as a sign of hope in the future, for the coming of the warm and extended-sunlight days of Spring.

In Sweden on St. Lucia’s Day, girls will wear a Crown of Lights, which is as that worn by the victors of the Olympics, but now bearing candles.

There are many lines that are possible meanings to the origin of the Christmas Wreath. All I know is that it was a lovely thought of Tony Buzan.

Being in the right place at the right time

I seem to have some knack of being in the right place at the right time, not all the time, but often enough for me to take notice.

Many years ago, after years of working for computer manufacturers and end users, I was ready to leave the computer industry, to try something new.

I had an interest in how the human brain worked, after all, I had been trying to replicate it for many years, getting computers to emulate what humans were doing in the offices, hospitals, hotels, etc. I also had an interest in hypnosis, how did it work, what was the process.

I happened one day to pick-up a newspaper on a train, one I never usually read, and I scanned through it, noticing an advert by Paul McKenna selling his course to learn hypnosis. That course was my first introduction to hypnosis.

Why did I pick that one newspaper on that one day and see that advert, for something that has led me on a very successful new career.

Why was it that I received an email from Ormond McGill and Jerry Valley inviting me to a course in LA to learn Stage Hypnosis? Me, not others in the UK.

Why is it that I have worked with the greats of personal knowledge learning, Tony Buzan, Richard Bander, John Grindler, Win Wenger, Gianni Golfera, and the many more people?

Here in Bukit Mertajam, Malaysia, I had set-up the new Sling products, SlingCatcher and SlingTurbo, allowing me to connect to my cable box in the flat in Norbiton Hall, Kingston upon Thames in the UK to watch live British TV and listen to live radio.

I happened to key-in a channel, I never listen to the radio via the cable box, and there was Tim Lichfield broadcasting on Absolute Radio (listen live) in the early UK hours.

Tim Lichfield DJ on Absolute Radio

I had taught Tim Stage Hypnosis a couple of years early, and found him to be a eager learner and a great guy.

I dropped him a line just to say hi, only for him to give us a mention on air. Strange to be able to listen be involved with something from the other side of the world.

Why did I happen upon that radio channel?

There will be a reason I know, either for Tim or myself.

A tour hour tour of Singapore

Tired, as I had little sleep on the Singapore Airlines A380, I joined about twenty other transit passengers at Singapore Changi International Airport for a free two coach tour. What a wonderful gift Singapore Airlines, the Airport Aurthority and the Tourist Board gives to passengers.

On one large island plus a few of the smaller surrounding islands on the southern tip of Malaysia, Singapore is approximately 42 kilometers by 23 kilometers, yet has a population of just over 5 million people, made-up of 70% Chinese, and the rest Indian and Malays. So most of the housing is high rise flats, both Government and private. Offices too reach for the sky.

High rise buildings is the only way Singapore can build.

Building are being constructed everywhere, but it was a joy to hear the tour guide say that they are actively preserving the culture and history of the old Singapore. From temples, Chinese or Indian, mosques, or churches, shop-houses to old colonial buildings.

All religions are accepted from temples, Chinese or Indian, mosques, or churches

Old shophouses are preserved

We even went under the footbridge which I mention in my stories I tell in my courses. You know, try it you might like it”.

Singapore Airlines A380

Last week had been quite busy with meetings, but I had no courses to give or clients booked from now until Christmas.

My plans had been squashed, as courses had been canceled, and people I had asked to be with me had not answered my requests, so rather than sit by myself in Norbiton Hall, Kingston upon Thames, I once again traveled into the West End of London, looking at the shops and streets, and decided on the spur of the moment to fly to Malaysia.

It was a grand opportunity to fly on Singapore Airlines new A380 aircraft, but try as I could I could not get a seat on the upper deck. I had been told that seat rows 71 – 78 are good seats, and row 80 as the latter is an exit seat so lots of leg room. The upper deck I am told has a row configuration of 2-4-2, whereas the main lower deck has a row configuration of 3-4-3.

Singapore Airlines A380 at Changi Airport

As I like a window seat, I often find myself locked into my seat by the two people sleeping next to me in the 3-4-3 configuration, so no pee pee’s.

Eventually, Friday evening I was able to log onto the web site of Singapore Airlines to book-in and choose a seat. But what I was shown was a seat booked for me, 46K, at least a window seat, but the rest of the seats fully booked, taken.

Boarding the aircraft was a dream, so quickly, even with over 470 passengers, and the seats are wide, comfortable, with plenty of leg room.

The view from the window amazed me. A gigantic wing, arcing like a ski slope from the fuselage, filling the whole window. I could see nothing but wing, and I believe it is so wide, you could play football on it. So, moral of this story is if you want a window seat on an A380, do not pick rows 44 – 48, because you will not see any more than the wing, beautiful as it is, just like ang eagle.

The smooth flight lasted over 12 hours, and was so smooth, but my video had no sound, so I could not watch any films.

Now I sit in Singapore Changi International Airport waiting for 7 more hours for the connecting flight to Penang.

I think I will get a free two hour tour of Singapore, that should keep me awake and give me something to do.

At least I will be able to watch TV

I have written before about Slingbox, a box of electronics that allows the owner to watch their home TV anywhere in the world, via the internet on a computer, not only that, but to be able to control which channel to view.

Now as an International Trainer being based in the UK, and spending many days of the month away, living in hotels with nothing to watch but non-English TV programs, I have used Slingbox both on my PC and mobile phone with great success.

Also living in Malaysia, watching Slingbox on a small laptop screen has been good but not a good experience for a relaxing evening.

Sling have launched some more electronics to their range, which allows the viewer, i.e. me, to connect the remote TV, to the internet and watch the TV program back in the UK home.

The main box is called SlingCatcher, so now I can now watch British TV on the other side of the world via my dedicated cable box/receiver.

With the additional Sling product, the SlingTurbo, which is  two box ethernet-over-power line adaptors. This means that the internet Slingbox British TV signal sent from the UK, is captured from the router say in Malaysia, then is fed into the household electricity supply, then into the into the SlingCatcher, which then outputs to a normal TV.

Easy to install means that there are no cables from the router to the SlingCatcher and TV.

Great products to the range.

Who cares if Nobody loves me, I have my TV.

Hypnosis for Dentists in Istanbul

If you want pain free visits to the dentist, then Istanbul in Turkey could be the place to go.

I gave a recent course in a very windy Istanbul over three days for a group of dentists, who wanted to learn how they could use hypnosis in their work with their patients to reduce pain and help them relax.

We certainly proved that they could all induce a hypnotic trance quickly on their partner, thus to allow pressure to be exerted on a sensitive part of the hand to induce pain, which was not felt by the partner.

Beauty is there

Although Nobody loves me, is it only because I have not opened my eyes and looked around me.

I have only just noticed some flowers in the apartment here in Norbiton Hall, Kingston upon Thames.

Yes I knew they were there, but I had not taken time to look at them, to admire the beauty.

I know them as Christmas Cacti, or its scientific name Zygocactus, and as their name implies, they flower around Christmas, December.

Smells Fishy

When it is said something smells fishy, it seems or indicates there is something wrong, it is out of the ordinary, not following the normal route.

This saying, it smells fishy, is often used for a situation which may or may not involve a person/s. To Smell a Rat is often used to indicate that a person is setting a trap, to do something wrong against another.

Smell a Rat

As in the blog Missing days , I mentioned the English saying, To Smell a Rat.

The saying smell a rat means that there is something wrong, something is not right.

It could mean that someone is going to set a trap on another person into doing something that they do not want to do, to manipulate them into doing something or an carry out an action which is wrong.

Perhaps the onlooker or recipiant does not know what is going to possibly happen, but intuition tells them to be aware.
