Coaching

At the moment I am coaching some people to dream and to fulfill these dreams.

It is a dream on my part to help people to achieve excellence, over and above their dreams.

And, I just got a message from them that said they are attending a convention in the USA, where the meeting was named, “Dream, Then Do“.

Perhaps that is what we should all do, dream, and live the dream.

There is a film and a book out on the market, which is a number one best seller, much in the vain of “What the Bleep Do We Know” (see previous blog click),  in many countries of the world, having been translated into lots of languages. This film is called The Secret. (see and buy below).

How do people achieve so many great things?

How do they become rich, and rich in all senses of the meaning, not just money?

How do they achieve satisfaction and happiness?

They ask for their desires.

They ask their higher self, the ultimate, and it is theirs. You only have to ask.

But then, there is no free ride. You have to do. You have to live your life as if you have already achieve your desire.

If you have a dream, ask for if, live it. It will be yours. Any hesitation, then it will be lost.

So:-
Dream the dreams of dreams, and they will be fully incorporated into every single muscle, every single cell, every single neuron.

There is a Big World out there.

My travels around the world has taken me to most of continents, and many countries. It has opened my eyes to different cultures, beliefs, habits and behaviour.

I happen to believe in evolution, but do not dismiss divine creation. My trip to the Galápagos Islands (see flim of dancing Mocking birds) in the Pacific Ocean, the birthplace of Darwin’s Theory of Evolution, helped to seal my beliefs, yet instill in me the understanding of how the growth of the human population is destroying our planet. We are changing the habitation, the species that exists there, by introducing our ways of living, introducing new species that knock out the indigenous species, and removing or destroying plant life and vegetation that sustains life.

I love to take a window seat on a flight, and watch the ever changing world float by there down below me as we fly at 35,000 feet. It looks so flat, and I know that this is an illusion, because I know there are many hills and valleys to be climbed and cross. I love to see the patchwork of fields, criss crossed by roads, railways, and rivers, seeing traffic, cars, lorries, trains, and wonder if the occupants know or realise that someone is looking down on them.

I look at the buildings, towns and cities, trying to work out which place, the name, they are. I see the pollution, mans waste, mans desire for energy, goods and chattel’s, resulting in a haze that is very visible, and have to remind myself that I too have the desire for the energy and chattel’s contributing to the destruction of our world.

It is very strange how it is only in the recent years that we humans have become aware of Global Warming, of how we humans are creating too big a carbon footprint.

Why? How?

The simple answer is our governments, our religious leaders and the media that are feeding us information that they want us to know about, information from their point of view, from their perspective, knowledge and understanding. To brainwash us, to change our understandings, and to influence us.

It is very strange that in recent worldwide conflicts, the British population was in a majority in favour of the conflict, and yet, just 15 miles across a stretch of water, the French had a majority against the conflict.

What caused this difference in beliefs? Information that was being fed to the populations.

It is the same with all beliefs, religion, politics, business, education. It is the information that is being fed to us, that is brainwashing us, changing our beliefs.

It is national or religious holidays where I see these differences most, that I feel or sense big changes in beliefs.

For me as a British citizen, a suppose a Christen, (what I am I do not know as I have been exposed to so many beliefs), that Christmas is so important. The whole of the UK comes to a stop. There are no trains, buses, on the 25th December. All shops are closed, restaurants are closed, cinemas, theaters remain closed. Only the essential services operate in a somewhat normal way. It is a time for the family, the children.

Yet, many people from other countries, other cultures, do not know what is happening in the UK, that it is closed for the day, shut down.

Then, how many people in the UK realised that countries of the same belief system say as Turkey were closed, shut down for their important time of the year, their holiday, where people traveled to send time with their families, where businesses, shops etc were closed?

In Turkey it was their holiday, their Bayram, in other countries it is called Eid ul-Fitr or Id-Ul-Fitr often shortened to Eid. It is the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

For me I could not understand, why, I could not contact people, why were telephones unanswered, why were there none of my contacts on Skype, Gizmo (read about how you can contact me or make free phone calls will ViOP) or MSN?

Many people only see or understand what they have in their world, their country, their town village or home. They have no realisation of anything outside their own understanding, their world.

On a trip to Peru, going “off track”, not to the tourist areas, we came to a village market, where “westerners” never frequent. They were dressed in their typical national costumes, selling their local produce and food. An amazing experience to see other cultures. We were told not to take photographs, as they may take offense, object to this.

All these people dressed in so colourful clothes, with big red cheeks. Yet who were the odd ones out? Who were being viewed as if they were aliens from outer space, with their hiking boots, all weather clothes? Us, the tourists. (Pictures wll follow).

How often do we step outside our own shoes, and see things from a different view, a different perspective? (See the film What the Bleep do we Know click to visit web site).

It is when we begin to see things, understand things from others points of view that we will become aware that it is a big world out there, that our Cat on the Mat or Map of the Territory is not that of others, and we can ask:-

“Who or what put our beliefs in our head, or influenced our thoughts and behaviours?”

The Intention Experiment

There is so much information available to you out there, it is just waiting for you to look, listen, try, do and experience with an open mind.

You like me will want this information, to grow, understand and to pass on to others. That is why I love my job.

I love books. I read books.

There are so many books out there, and more coming every day. Every man and his dog has written a book is seems.

Some are good, some are bad, and most are just expressing the authors opinion, often a biased one sided opinion.

It is good to learn PhotoReading, to absorb words at 20,000 – 30,000 WPM (words per minute), to get through so much information, only going for the most important information relevant to our needs.

Some years ago I came across the film, What the Bleep Do We Know, and after watching the film a few times, it all made sense to me, This is what I teach and understand in NLP.

Eager to absorb more I joined IONS, the Institute of Noetic Sciences, (click for web site), and have been introduced to many ideas and sources of information.

I was sent a book by Lynne McTaggart titled The Intention Experiment from IONS, and immediately knew this book contained information I needed. After PhotoReading I knew I wanted to read this book word for word.

The book tells how you can use your thoughts to change your life and the world, not by this is how to do it and just do it, but by quoting research, actual people who did the research, why they did it and giving the outcomes, the results in plain easy to understand English, not in a language only science buffs will understand.

Lynne McTaggart explains technical terminology there and then, again in a non assuming way, making the reading easy and enjoyable. All her research is quoted in the bibliography, and it is extensive, with all the exciting developments in the science of intention.

The book even took me back to my childhood where I was asking many questions about what happens to thoughts. Can we transmit these thoughts, what happens to them, do they influence other people? It made me rethink what it is to be me, a human being. It proved that we are connected to everyone, everything, and that we had better pay attention to our thoughts, actions and intentions.

A good read, to open your mind to other ideas and the latest research.

More information can be obtained by visiting their web site (click here).

To empty my Brain

With the long hours I do presenting and training, continually calibrating with the participants and translators, working out my next move, my future moves, my language, I need space in the evening as I am exhausted, my brain needs to relax and switch off.

A participant once said I am like an actor whilst I train, but on top of that, I am the writer, the producer, the director, the theatre manager, the stage manager, sound engineer and catering manager. It is true.

But I love my job.

In the evening, I could have a relaxing meal and conversation with someone I know, or take a wrap, Simit or sandwich back to my hotel room.

I can switch-on the TV, but mostly there will be only two English language channels, CNN and/or the BBC. Once you have seen the news once, that is it, I do not wish to see it again, and again, and again.

If the hotel has free internet access, then I have a great solution. Slingbox.

Slingbox from Sling Media, is a way I can watch British TV anywhere in the world for free, it will change the way we watch TV in the future I am sure, the same as VoiP and Skype have changed the way we can telephone the world at very cheap prices or for free.

Slingbox is a box full of electronics looking like a block of chocolate, that connects to your satellite or cable TV box in your home, then to your broadband connection, not your computer but the router. The Slingbox is then given its’ own internet address, which is secure, that then allows you to access and control your satellite or cable TV box, downloading the TV signal to your computer logged onto the internet anywhere in the world.

You can control which program you wish to watch, in fact it is just like having the home TV controller in your hand.

The main trouble for this is if someone else is watching a program at home and you want to watch another channel. But that can be fun.

You can get the Slingbox here

Films That Influence Me

Like music, (click for more) certain films have had a great influence on my life, and I enjoy watching time after time. I never grow tired of them.

Call me sentimental, (mental), but the Olivia Newton-John film Xanadu hits all the right buttons. In this cult movie, Olivia Newton-John portrays Kira, a Greek muse who attracts a painter dissatisfied with his career.

This musical follows the romance and the fulfillment of dreams, to the creation reality out of dreams with the dance hall called Xanadu, with the help of a retired musician played by the ever smiling Gene Kelly.

The movie includes such pop hits as Magic, Party All Over the World, I’m Alive and the title song Xanadu, played by the ELO – the Electric Light Orchestra.

My first exposure to Xanadu was in Saudi Arabia, buying cassettes of LP/CD’s to listen to, as there was nothing else to do in the early 1980’s, no cinemas, pubs, clubs, TV to watch. The music gripped me, it told a story, it was only years later that I came across the movie.

Another movie close to my heart is the black and white film called the Dambusters. This movie tells of the real life wartime story of the RAF (the British Royal Air Force) having to attack dams in Germany, to disrupt the Germans manufacturing industries, to bring the war closer to an end.

It tells the story of the dedication of the air crews, in training and to give their lives so others can live, it tells how Barnes Wallace, despite being ridiculed, worked out how to achieve the outcome needed, and that failures were a learning curve. Read the article on NOP click here.

The BBC created a radio series back in the 1970’s called The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, written by Douglas Adams. Unusually this radio series was then transformed into a TV series of the same name, and the book followed. A few years ago, a new movie was produced, but sorry to say not as good as the TV series. For a start the original robot Marvin was replaced, although, the real Marvin did play a cameo part. Marvin say one of the most outstanding statements for me:-

“I’m so depressed, I have the brain of a planet, and all they ask me to do is open the door, I’m so depressed.”

It is in the movie that we can see that the human brain always needs completion, if you ask it a question, it will always try and find the answer, if you give it the answer it will try and find what the question was.

42 is the answer.

The Wizard of OZ, the 1939 film starring Judy Garland, tells the story of a young girl trying to get home with her pet dog Toto. The only way back is to visit the Wizard of Oz. She meets friends on her journey, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Lion, and together they have adventures and challenges which they overcome. When they meet the Wizard, it is then we realise we all have the same powers to meet our own challenges and adventures.

The latest film is What the Bleep Do We Know. A beautiful animation, film and documentary, telling the story of a woman going through a crisis, but coming to a realisation, that we must see things from a different perspective.

Very heavy on NLP, this film needs to be watched a couple of times to get the inner meaning, but it brings together all I teach in my courses.

The above films have a deeper meaning, a metaphor which we can all learn from.

Sentimental old me.

The War of the Worlds – H.G. Wells, Jeff Wayne

“No-one would have believed…………”

There are a few things in life that inspire me. Music. People. Places. Objects.

When I have those moments, those times, I know they are special. I will hold on to those, forever.

In music, there are very special tunes, songs, arrangements, that have captured my imagination, and after one hearing, they have stayed with me.

My college days at the Stafford College of Commerce in Wednesbury, when we, Philip Green, Paula Dawes et al, went into a coffee bar in Walsall, spending 6d (six old pence, read story, click here), to play The Animal’s House of the Rising Sun. It lasted the longest time, that was value for money.

When I first started work, say 1968, with the National Coal Board Computer Power in Cannock in the Midlands of the UK, the shift system we worked allowed me and my colleagues to have breaks of four days. One of these breaks I went camping with Pete to Barmouth in Wales, and sitting on a wall outside a pub, the sound of Mike Oldfield’s, Tubular Bells rang out. The haunting melody is in my mind now.

Simon and Garfunkel’s, Bridge Over Troubled Water was played in a house Pete and myself rented in Pelsall at the time, and I would entertain girlfriends in the front room. It was not my LP record, I never had a record player or LP’s, but the songs created a great atmosphere for romance. Well it worked for me.

Neil Diamond’s Beautiful Noise, was a song I heard driving my VW Beetle up the A52 from Bottesford to Grantham in the East Midlands one morning, and it made my hair stand up on my arms. It still does today, as I listen with such joy at the arrangement.

James Last, and his unique big band sound. Sitting in the front room of the first house I purchased at 13 Cox Drive, Bottesford, having created a stereo sound system from bits and pieces of equipment before the days of commercially available equipment, and trying to sit in the precise position between the giant homemade speakers so I could hear the dueling between the various instruments of his orchestra. I was later able to hear James Last live at Leicester’s De Montford Hall. Wow.

Around 1979, my life was influenced by another collection of words, songs and music.

Based on the story of H.G. Wells, The War of the Worlds, Jeff Wayne created a musical master piece.

I can loose myself in the story as narrated by Richard Burton, sung by David Essex, Phil Lynott, Julie Covington, Justin Haywood, as the Martians invaded Earth, not in America as the movies suggest, but in the UK, the area I live, Woking, Horsell Common, et al.

The music creates images in my mind so real, as Peter and the Wolf, (click to read), I see the Martian’s machines as they rape the earth and humanity on their way to London, the sinking of the ship HMS Thunderchild, the eventual destruction of the Martian’s with the red weed. See the blog NLP now – Our Minds Eye (click to read).

I went into Central London, and as always playing with Phillip’s Sausage, I saw that Jeff Wayne was to appear in Virgin’s Megastore, a massive CD music store in London’s Piccadilly Circus, signing copies of his latest release of War of the Worlds.

Phillip with Jeff Wayne, London 2007

It was in Istanbul, walking up Taxim Hill after having a meal with my translator Asuman Yildirim that as I passed a previously unseen store, (D&R), my attention was drawn to the corner of the window, and there was the Collectors Edition of the War of the Worlds, something I never knew existed. I had to buy it.

It was at the beginning of the year when I purchased a newspaper I never really buy, that I opened the pages and there was an advertisement for Jeff Wayne’s live performance in London’s O2 Arena in December 2007 (click to visit). I had to book a seat. To book, visit www.thewaroftheworlds.com.

“No-one would have believed…………” that such things can happen, that we are presented with opportunities, chances, possibilities, but we are.

Synchronicity. The release of human possibilities. Breaking free of limits. It will happen if it should happen.

C.G. Jung describes synchronicity as “a meaningful coincidence of two or more events, where something other than the possibility of chance is involved.”

Coaching Course ends

Today is a day of rest.

I have worked for five days on a coaching course and at the same time, ran three session a day with participants learning English. I am quite tired as it has been a difficult time, for once the facilities have not been up to the standard I have been used to over the years, I have needed Mustapha here with me in Turkey.

Today I will do nothing, except write the blog, go for a walk to get food, and prepare for the next round of courses starting tomorrow with Memory Skills, following on with an NLP Practitioner course, then a Mind Map course. Nine days without a break.

I enjoyed the participants over the five days, they inspired me, as they wanted to learn despite background problems. It is when you get students eager to learn that you move up a gear, and proceed with enthusiasm.

Durring the course we looked at many aspects of coaching, especially saying nothing with style. Graham Alexander the World’s number one Executive Coach, once told me the art of a good coach is to say nothing with style. The exercises to learn this technique were fun, and the participants soon got the hang of it.

We looked at the S.M.A.R.T. Model. (click to read) and the levels of beliefs (to follow).

As normal the course ended with sadness that all good things come to an end, we had become a team a group of motivated people, but the participants left with a knowledge that they had learnt a lot, and to know that they were on their way to achieve what they wanted from the course.

Me? I missed the ferry, missed the last train of Tunel, and entered an empty flat again. But joy, I found an internet signal, I can watch British TV on Slingbox via my computer in peace, eating one of my favourite wrap meals from La cantine, near Taxim Tunel, before having a good nights sleep.

PhotoReading – History

My involvement with PhotoReading came about from the desire to access and obtain more knowledge, especially from books.

NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and in accelerated learning, and as a child learned by investigation, pulling things apart, by doing, realising that traditional education was perhaps incompatible to real learning.

Like me, his experience of reading was less than pleasant, and after years of education found he was slow. For me, I had only really read one book from cover to cover, Biggles Flies Again, before the age of twenty.

Question. Why is it that first lesson they stop teaching in schools is reading?

Again like me, he believed that he should read each word, have total understanding and recall, to be a good reader, but at 170 WPM (words per minute), we perhaps only get 70% comprehension.  A speed reading course in 1984 pushed the speed up to 1,300 WPM still with a comprehension level of 70%.

In 1985 Paul was studying and teaching adult learning and human development technologies, and was introduced to Peter Kline and the company IDS/American Express, who wanted accelerated learning and speed reading applications installed. He studied for them how the preconscious mind can absorb vast amounts of information without involvement of the conscious mind, and especially visual information.

Combining his research and knowledge of NLP and accelerated learning. PhotoReading was born, and he obtained on one book speeds of 68,000 WPM at a comprehension level of 74%.

In 1986, Minnesota Department of Education licensed Learning Strategies Corporation as a private vocational school.

Since then, PhotoReading has spread throughout the world, through trainers, licensed like myself, to take the ever developing whole mind system to many countries. For me to China, Sri Lanka, India, the Middle East, Turkey, Italy and the UK.

If you want to learn or a have a course in PhotoReading visit my web site http://www.c4photoreading.com/ or send me a message.

Good reading.

PhotoReading in Milan, Italy 1

I love my work, teaching, NLP, memory, Mind Maps, hypnosis and PhotoReading, in the different countries of the world. As my reputation as a trainer spreads, so the number of countries I am asked to go to increases.

For many years now I have been teaching PhotoReading in Italy with NLPItaly. The PhotoReading book has been translated into Italian and is a best seller there. (Italian version available from NLPItaly (click))

What I have found, especially with PhotoReading, is that people buy a book on a subject that they wish to learn, take it home, but never read or implement the knowledge contained in the book.

How often have you purchased a book and never got past chapter one?

Learning is a whole body experience.

Our brain has many parts which has different functions, dealing with vision, hearing, speaking, feelings internally and externally, taste and smell. We have an area of our brain which deals with our thinking process. Each of these areas are discrete, and each has to learn.

Just because we talk to ourselves about how we can for example to thread a needle, it is not until we actually physically thread the cotton through the eye of needle that the muscles and body leans how to do it.

So it is with trying to learn from a book, you physically have to do what you are trying to learn, not just process the information in your head.

We get many people attending courses who have failed to learn and implement from the book or manual.

On the latest course we had twenty (20) participants attending at the Hilton hotel near Stazione Centrale di Milano or the Central Station.

Each brought with them five (5) books, each of 300 pages, which we were to “read” along with articles and the Paul Scheele PhotoReading book, in the two and a half (2.5) days we would be together. Yes we would be absorbing words at 20,000 – 30,000 words per minute.
PhotoReading Participants in Italysome of the participants

You have to physically do a course, to attend a course to fully understand and learn a subject.

Svengali and The Manchurian Candidate

In his book of 1894 called Trilby, George du Maurier created a fictional character called Svengali.

Svengali transforms Trilby into a great singer using hypnosis, but she cannot perform without his help in entering a trance state.

The character of Svengali was painted as a person with evil intent, a person who persuaded others to do what he wanted, to be extremely domineering, to be frightened of. This stereotype character has persisted to this day in the minds of the public against stage hypnosis and hypnotists.

The book Trilby has been filmed several times, perhaps most recently in 1983, perpetuating the myth.

Another film that set up hypnosis’s bad name and idea in the cinema and the public, is the The Manchurian Candidate filmed in 1962 staring Frank Sinatra, and in 2004 with Denzel Washington. This film brought the idea that hypnosis has power into the political arena. Filmed at the height of the Cold War between the East and West,  the film suggested that the victim had been programmed to kill a leading American politician.

This idea that people can be made to do things against their will have been tried by many people, organisations and governments, and all have failed as being too unreliable.

In his book Brainwashing, The Secret History of Mind Control,  Dominic Streatfeild investigates the history of now published papers of the CIA, into the authorised projects of the 1950’s, Bluebird, Artichoke  and the notorious Mkultra. All types of mind control failed, including drugs and especially hypnosis.

Brainwashing is not hypnosis, there are special skills and techniques, especially researched and used by the Communist Russia, from the work of Pavlovian Conditioning (Ivan Pavlov and his dogs).

The Moscow Show Trials (1936 -38), Sergei Mrachovsky, Lev Kamenev, Richard Pickel, Edouard Holtzman and Yuri Paitakov demanded to be found guilty of implausible crimes against Stalin. The USA Dewey Commission found these trials to be “frame-ups”.

Ten years later, a Cardinal Mindszenty was “taken apart” by Soviet interrogators, by what the Daily Mail headlined, “Mindszenty: Drug? Third Degree? Hypnosis?”. In a secret document of 10th February 1949, it was stated that Mindszenty had been probably persuaded to confess by less subtle means. One of his workers Dr. Zakar had been beaten half dead and paraded in front of Minszenty, who had immediately buckled and confessed. The Daily Mail headline was “journalistic embroidery”.

In Korea, on 13 January 1952, USA airforce pilots Enoch and Quinn were shot down over North Korea. On 16 May the two men made extraordinary confessions to Chinese interrogators that they had been deploying biological weapons, including cholera, anthrax typhus and plague over Korea. Nine months later Colonel Schwable also shoot down and captured, made similar confessions, shortly followed by confessions of another thirty-five capture pilots.

There was a problem, no bacteriological weapons were in use in Korea, the confessions were false.

This was Brainwashing.

Not only did the Russians try different techniques to alter peoples minds, but so did other nations, including the CIA, the British Intelligence Services, MI5, MI6, MI9, MI19 and A19,  under Cyril Cunningham, all investigate brainwashing, altering peoples mind.

All dismissed hypnosis as next to useless, unreliable.

You cannot make someone do something against their will, culture, beliefs, religion unless they want to.
