A Phoenix, the mythical bird

I have been asked, what is a Phoenix I mentioned in my blog, New Dates, New Trainings, New Beginnings.

A Phoenix is a mythical bird, perhaps in the shape of a heron, its' feathers are said to be beautiful gold and red.

Just before it dies it builds itself a nest made out of cinnamon sticks or twigs which then burns along with the Phoenix, reducing both to ashes.

From these ashes a new Phoenix arises.

It is said to be immortal and invincible, and will regenerate or reform when wounded. It has high grace and virtue, having power and prosperity.

Many cultures have the Phoenix mythological bird, having their own name for it, in China it is Feng Huang, in Japan it is known as Ho-Oo or Hou-Ou, the Philippines have the Adarna, Russia has Firebird, Egypt it is called Bennu, Turkey it is Anka Kuşu, and Persian Phoenixes they are know as Simurgh, Huma or Angha.
